I am a self-taught artist residing in Durham, North Carolina.
My work is influenced by a long-term fascination with how light plays with color,
especially in stained glass. As a child, I was drawn to the beauty of sunlight streaming
through stained glass windows.
After working for few years with flat panel glass, I began to experiment
with how I might capture a luminescence on canvas using paper and paint.
My paintings involve a process of layering paper, gesso, and acrylic.
In addition to my work as an artist, I am also an educational administrator
and a musician. I am passionate about issues of equity in community colleges, and
I stay active in local choral music.
